Doug Thurlow – 70th Birthday Party

Updated: Feb 21, 2022

Sue & I went to a 70th birthday party yesterday. The 70th birthday bash of long time buddy and drummist extraordinaire, Doug Thurlow. We’ve played in a number of bands together over the years, starting in 1978 with Romeo & Juliets in the centre of Hull and continuing for a lot of happy years. We were invited to his family “do” as was another long time buddy Tony Beasty and wife Anita. Tony of course of Antone’s Guitars fame and like me was working with Doug for a long time.

Anyway, we went to Rowley Manor for a Birthday lunch and very good it was too, thank you Rowley Manor. Doug’s wife, Anna, had organised an extremely special cake which was made, carried in and presented by Winner of the 2014 Bake off Competition, Nancy Birtwhistle. It was made all the more special because Nancy had taken time out to deliver the cake on her Wedding anniversary – now that’s dedication for you and an extra special touch.

Here are a few images of the day taken on my Panasonic GX8 with 12-35 f2.8 lens – just a nice carry round size.
