Lovely weather in Bottesford on Saturday March 9th as Bottesford Town took on Penistone Church who were a few places above them in the Northern Counties East League. There was a well documented promotion by Bottesford Town to draw attention to knife crime especially in light of recent events in the area. We had good support from Penistone Church for this and we were pleased to welcome the Lady Mayoress to publicise the cause.
Penistone enjoyed the possession in the first half but the second half belonged to Bottesford, winning a penalty which was converted by Aris Cunha jr. There's a short clip of the video on X for those who'd like a repeat. Some intense pressure by Penistone Church at the end of the second half but Bottesford defence stayed firm and the match finished in a respectable 1-1 draw. Well played lads.
Here are a few images from the day.
