Bottesford V Golcar - Jan25th, 2025.

Building on the success from last week playing Eccleshill, the lads faced another stern challenge against high flying Golcar United, currently 2nd in the Northern Counties East League. Our trip to Golcar earlier in the season had resulted in a loss so there was an added incentive to even things up.

The match started in a busy manner with a lot of decent football but ended up scoreless at the end of the first half. The second half started in pretty much the same manner, a lot of end to end action but with no result. Halfway through the second half we conceded a penalty and feared the worst but a valiant effort (and good educated guess) from keeper Ben Voase kept the ball out of the net and seemed to lift the team. That proved to be the case as Bottesford pressed hard and 10 minutes later after an effort on goal was kept out by the Golcar keeper, the ball went over to Blake Gregory on the left wing who hammered the ball goalwards and it went through a number of players before ending up in the net giving us the lead.

Despite the best efforts of Golcar, they couldn't break through a solid Bottesford defence and we came out deserved winners 1-0.
